Latest Gallery Review - WHYTE'S "a buyers guide to Irish art" (Pages 29-34)

Upcoming Group Show presents The Bad Art Annual Summer Show - May, June, July

Erin de Burca Hailing from a family with a strong tradition in the Irish Arts, amongst them familiar names such as Brendan Behan and Peader Kearney, author of our national anthem; - it is not surprising that Erin should draw inspiration from her native city. This collection juxtaposes well-known images of Dublin with scenes of other cities she has recently visted. The particular flavour of Dublin is highlighted by its contrast with Barcelona, London, Venice and Ferrara.

Deborah Donnelly's paintings are mostly studies of objects or living things. The work owes debt to French painting at the turn of the 20th Century, and maybe even a little Van Gogh, but also carries a lot of Donnelly’s more adventurous style.

Lucy Doyle is an established contemporary Irish artist and has been painting full-time since she left Art College in 1982. Her matter is still life, interiors, and landscapes. To the painter the process is everything, to the observer the images says it all.

Val Byrne was born in Dublin, studied Art and Architecture at U.C.D., NUI. He paints the landscapes of Ireland in his own particular style of watercolours and cubist oil paintings with an emphasis on recording today’s built environment.

The Bad Art Gallery exists to increase the awareness of art, thus making it more approachable and affordable as possible.
