Portrait painter Christopher Banahan is an award winning artist, who creates contemporary portraits. He has built up a reputation for his distinctive style of portrait painting, often creating an "antique appearance" giving the paintings a sense of intrigue and mystery. His work is in the collection of the Arts Council, the Office of Public Works, the A.I.B. Bank Collection, Microsoft and Dáil Eireann. His work can be found in many private collections in Ireland, Europe and U.S.A. Christopher was awarded a first class honours B.A. Degree, from Nottingham Trent University in 1981, and received an M.A. in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1984. In 1990 he received a Rome Award in Painting, from the British School of Rome. He has lived in Ireland since 1993, and as well as receiving numerous awards from the Arts Council of Ireland. He has represented Ireland in numerous international art exhibitions, including "Contemporay Art from Ireland", being held at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.
