David Agenjo

DAVID AGENJO was born in the city of Madrid (Spain) in 1977. From his early childhood he showed a huge interest in drawing and painting and continued his self-taught activity throughout his youth. At the age of 22 he began to work as a graphic designer. The idea of dedicating himself full time to his passion never dissipated however and he decided to combine his profession with live drawing and printmaking workshops at the Fine Arts Circle of Madrid. There he matured as an artist and developed his style to work in a more agile and expressive fashion. In 2006 at the age of 28 he decided to leave his home in Madrid to pursue an artistic exploration. Dublin was his choice. Here he started developing a collection of paintings representing Dublin from the perspective of a foreigner. “The necessity of representing what I see and what I feel is something that has followed me since I was a kid, it’s an “obsession” which I coexist with and I can’t split from, a love and hate relationship that accompanies me everywhere I go. In the course of time I’ve discovered that this necessity and my creative state increase when I go through big changes, I discovered that association from my experience here in Dublin and it’s the one that drove me to develop a portrait of this city.”
