Judith Henihan

Judith was born in Dublin and studied Fine Art in National College of Art and Design, graduating in 1990. Since moving to Co. Kildare a few years ago, she has been painting full-time from her Kilcock based studio. During that time she completed many commercial as well as private commissions including a series of portraits and landscapes for OPW, which hang in government buildings. Her current work ranges from city scenes to rural landscapes to life-paintings from the model. The city scenes are mostly of Dublin and as much painted from memory as from actual life. The rural theme is inspired by the Kildare surroundings. The grazing cattle with their looming bulky forms have a timeless quality. The cockerels with their mincing steps and striking plumage are evocative of a farmyard choreography. In her drawings from the model, she strives to emphasize the sculptural quality of the figure.
