Roisin Duffy

Roisin Duffy is an Irish artist and poet, originally from Co. Cavan and now living in Co. Monaghan. She has had four solo exhibitions and 12 group exhibitions, both locally and nationally. Her work is in the collections of Cavan County County Council, the Airfield Trust and Pike Insurances, and in many international private collections from Iceland to Japan. Roisin currently works in acrylic on canvas. As an artist, she is a visual story teller. Neither an abstract nor a realist painter, she incorporates the visual information of realism with the sub-text of abstraction. Colour, humour and balance create art which lift the spirits of the viewer, as the concept that colour and fun must always be looked for amongst the dreariness and the rain and the depression of daily life form the basis of her visual world. The landscapes she paints exist only in her imagination; a cleaner, brighter, warmer version of this world, one that is more simple and uncluttered, but that also hints at the undiscovered myriad existences that lurk just beneath the surface or over the next hill. Her figurative work has a more intense edge, as she explores the issues and experiences dear to her and the people around her.
